Lampworking is the process of using a torch to melt glass. Each of my beads is made on a torch, from a rod of glass, shaped around a mandrel, poked, prodded and cajoled into the shape I choose. Then, it is popped into a kiln to be properly annealed for durability.

Using Moretti Effetre 104 COE glass rods, I create beads on a torch. Using a Bobcat torch, I heat the rods of glass until molten, wind them around a coated steel rod, called a "mandrel". The glass is then manipulated into the desired shape, added to with other colours of glass, frits, mica, etc. Using simply the heat, or tools, the shape is manipulated until I'm satisfied. Once I've completed the design and refined the shape, I place the bead in the heated kiln.
